About University Reasearch Co.,LLC Health Care Improvement HCI:
The USAID-funded HCI-Afghanistan Project goal is to develop the improvement capability in the health sector in Afghanistan. URC-HCI proposes to do so through working with counterparts in the MOPH, PPHDs and NGOs providing services in order to adapt and apply the Science of Health Care Improvement, including the Improvement Collaborative Approach, to bring about significant and rapid improvement in health outcomes for patients in Afghanistan.
The goal of USAID HCI-Afghanistan Project is to develop the improvement capability in the health sector in Afghanistan. HCI works with counterparts in the MOPH, PPHOs and NGOs providing services in order to adapt and apply the Science of Health Care Improvement, including the Improvement Collaborative Approach, to bring about significant and rapid improvement in health outcomes for patients in Afghanistan.
HCI supports the Unit of Improving Quality in Healthcare in the MoPH and works with counterparts to develop strategy for Quality in Healthcare in Afghanistan. To make sure that quality is integrated in all strategies and translated in to appropriate actions there is a strong need for effective coordination between the MoPH departments and implementing partners. The Unit under the instruction of the Deputy Minister for Health Services provision and General Directorate of Curative Medicine is decisive to second a qualified Afghan national to the RH Department of the MoPH to help coordinate the quality related activities.
Duties & Responsibilities:
â€¢ The consultant will be a member of the Unit for Improving Quality in Health Care and will be providing necessary support to the RH Department of the MoPH.
â€¢ Contribute to the revision of RH department's documents and advise on interventions improving quality of health care
â€¢ Conduct training need assessment (related to Quality) for MoPH central and provincial RH officers
â€¢ Facilitate training programs on quality interventions for RH Department staff at national and provincial levels.
â€¢ Participate in RH relevant forums organized by the MoPH and Partners and provide technical support on interventions required to improve quality of Maternal and New born health programs
â€¢ Assist the IQHC (Improving Quality in Health Care) Unit Coordinator in developing and help coordinate its implementation of the strategy for improving quality in health care.
â€¢ Provide required support for the organization of RH task force meetings and high level RH meetings.
â€¢ Provide regular reports on work plan progress to RH Directorate and IQHC Unit.
â€¢ Perform other duties as assigned by his/her supervisor
â€¢ Monitor quality related activities in Maternity hospitals
Graduate from recognized medical University
Post graduate degree in Public Health or MCH or equivalent experience is highly desired
At least 3 years experience of working at the national level with International organizations ( NGO , UN ) or MOPH
Well familiar with Primary, Secondary and Tertiary health care services.
Demonstrated proficiency in organizing and conducting training on quality improvement, or the ability and willingness to rapidly increase skills.
Spoken and written competence in Pashto, Dari and English
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
Good computer skills, including competence in Ms Office and internet/e-mail
Ability and willingness to travel to provincial capitals and rural areas of Afghanistan
