Duties & Responsibilities:

Develops and conducts safety and environmental training programs.
coordinates and conducts work area assessment, surveys, and program evaluations to determine the presence of hazardous conditions, such as noise exposure, chemical exposure, indoor air quality, light levels, confined space, and ventilation in paint booths. Assists departments with specific training needs by locating and scheduling outside training activities. analyzes hazardous conditions and assigns risk assessment codes for use by departments to prioritize and budget corrective actions. Implements and manages the project environmental management system. This includes
administering the waste management contract, and coordinating hazardous and universal waste management activities. works with administration of workers’ compensation program to determine areas for increased training and emphasis on accident prevention. Provides statistical and fiscal data on workers’ compensation injuries. Maintains complete and accurate records as required. Prepares various reports, including charts and graphs, to determine trends and needs. collects, analyzes and maintains data essential for effective safety and environmental programs. evaluates hazardous conditions and recommends engineering controls, administrative controls, and/or personal protective equipment. prepares and monitors division budget requirements and expenditures. develops fire prevention program for project employees, including building evacuation procedures. responsible for, and administers, the annual fire extinguisher maintenance program and the annual sprinkler system inspection and test program.
Administers the random and post accident testing program. Maintains accurate records in the administration of these programs and maintains computer database for these policies.
administers and provides technical advice on the medical surveillance program to include
required vaccinations and medical testing of employees as may be regulated by OSHA and other federal and state laws. conducts periodic inspections of project job sites to assist managers and supervisors in environmental, health, and safety compliance.
responsible for record keeping of the safety function, including OSHA and EPA filings.
maintains training records and assembles injured worker data. Assembles data for maintenance and filing of OSHA and EPA reports and logs, as well as other reports for outside agencies, as may be required.

Job Requirement:

This position is subject to the AFGS | ANHAM services.
Bachelor’s degree in safety management or related field preferred; or equivalent of four years experience in progressively responsible safety position or an equivalent combination sufficient to perform essential functions of this position.
Must have or be able to obtain ASP status within two years of appointment. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred. Requires frequent use of motor vehicle, personal computer, including word processing (Word),
Spreadsheet programs (Excel), Data Pipe software, and HTE database; digital camera, calculator, telephone, copy machine and fax machine. Specialized equipment includes; audiometric dosimeter/sound level machine, light survey equipment, anemometer and indoor air quality monitor (IAQ).
