WAW relentlessly advocates for women’s rights and challenges the norms that underpin gender-based violence to influence attitudes and bring about change.

Job Summary

The Security Assistant works under the guidance of the CSC Supervisor with a professional link to the HQ Security Manager and supports the day-to-day security activities of the WAW security department. The Security Assistant is accountable for performing a wide range of security duties and he is required to follow this job description and complete his works in the respect of the WAW rules and regulations

Duties & Responsibilities

• ·        Controls the opening, closure and entry into buildings to ensure security of the mission premises and issue building entry passes as appropriate.
• ·        Manages all aspects of the administration and work of WAW security guards and drivers.
• ·        Ensures that routine patrols and/or sector patrols are conducted to check security of buildings, personnel, equipment, and adherence to rules and regulations.
• ·        Receives, records, and appropriately takes action based on information received through all communication means.
• ·        Conducts security surveys of offices and other mission facilities.
• ·        Obtains comprehensive security information and produces reports relating to incidents that affect safety and security in the mission.
• ·        Enforces all safety and security regulations inside the compound.
• ·        Liaises where necessary with designated host government security, safety and emergency officials.
• ·        Process security clearance verification and visit requests.
• ·        Assists Security Manager in collecting, updating and communicating information regarding the security situation in the country.
• ·        Ensures the appropriate management of security and daily tasks given by the Security Manager.
• ·        Coordinates with the Security Manager in order to plan, develop and implement security plans, for   daily tasks and monthly planning for security department.
• ·        Serves as staff support to security management and assists in conducting investigations of significant threats and/or the loss or misappropriation of assets.
• ·        Provides general administrative assistance to the Security Manager.
• ·        Liaises and coordinates, as appropriate, with the government security organizations and/or personnel, including national and local provincial authorities, non-governmental organizations and other non-State actors in the area of operation; police officers, military, if needed Maintains regular contacts with Security Assistant of WAW field offices.
• ·        Supports actions during the implementation of the Security Plan, as required.
• ·        Maintains routine and confidential correspondence files/documents.
• ·        Assess performance of security personnel and ensure proper behaviour of all designated security personnel on and off duty.
• ·        Monitoring the correct functioning and physical presence of security relevant equipment.
• ·        Assuming responsibility for guard management; monitors and provide the duty roster.
• ·        Checking monthly Kabul offices first aid kits, fire extinguishers, safe room’s supplies and monthly safe room drills and ensuring the same procedures follow by security assistants in the project offices
• ·        Possible occasional travel to provinces in support of national staff.
• ·        Assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Security Manager.

Job Requirements

• ·        Bachelor Degree in related field or social since
• ·        3 years’ experience in security, preferably with NGO and INGO.
• ·        Fluency in English & the local language of the duty station.
• ·        Good Knowledge of Afghanistan laws and rules/regulations
• ·        High command of computers skills (absolute essential are: MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, outlook, Adobe Acrobat and deal with web-based sites).
• ·        Ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
• ·        Superb knowledge of the organizational structure of the mission, offices and locations and key mission personnel.
• ·        Able to manage and plan the work effectively and meet deadlines
• ·        Ability to build strong lines of communication with all WAW headquarter provincial staff
• ·        Excellent organizational, coordination, and communications skills
• ·        Ability to travel.
• ·        Physically fit.
