About Mine Action Coordination Center of Afghanistan:
The Mine Action Coordination Centre of Afghanistan (MACCA) supported by the United Nations in partnership with the Department of Mine Clearance coordinates the activities of the Mine Action Programme for Afghanistan (MAPA) including survey, mine clearance, battlefield clearance, mine risk education, and victim assistance activities throughout the country since 1989 and the mine action services reach almost every corner of the country.
The Security Assistant, under the direct supervision of the Security Advisor and general guidance of the Area Manager in Area Mine Action Center (AMAC), is responsible for the following tasks:
Duties & Responsibilities:
â€¢ Collate and retrieve security information from a wide variety of sources.
â€¢ Liaise with UNDSS, UN Agencies, and NGOs on security related matters
â€¢ Ability to draft correspondence for the approval of the Security Officer/AMAC Manager
â€¢ Responsible for the filing system
â€¢ Screen information received on security matters and produce reports as needed.
â€¢ Supervise AMAC Radio room operators and oversee AMAC internal Security Systems
â€¢ Supervise security arrangements at the MDD Accreditation Site
â€¢ Assist in providing security technical advice on planning and asset deployment to mine action organizations.
â€¢ Diploma in the relevant field with 2 years of practical experience; or high school graduate with 3 years of additional experience.
â€¢ Excellent knowledge of English (oral as well as written) â€“ Dari and Pashto
â€¢ Computer Skills â€“ Proficient with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
â€¢ Must be able to read maps familiar with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
â€¢ Familiar with the UN Security System, an asset.
â€¢ Able to work in a multi-national environment with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
â€¢ Ability to work under pressure, and to work long hours.
â€¢ Must be a self-motivated person, capable of learning new tasks.
â€¢ Interested in Afghan politics and current events.
â€¢ Must hold a current Driver permit
