About Afghanistan`s Peace and Reintegration Programme :

UNDP Afghanistan is supporting the Government of Afghanistan to implement the Afghanistan Peace and Reintegration Programme. This programme is supported by the international community and the United Nations to bring long term security and stability to Afghanistan. To implement this programme, a Peace and Reintegration (P&R) Trust Fund will be established to support various reintegration efforts, including training programmes, development activities and technical support.

Job Summary:

The Security Guard will be working at the APRP Office

Duties & Responsibilities:

Summary of key functions:

• Conduct regular patrol around the APRP Compound in the morning prior staff arrival, during the day, and upon staff departure.
• Search the vehicles in accordance with Minimum Operating Security Standard Procedures.
• Screen and register all packages and letters in accordance with Minimum Operating Security Standard guidelines.
• Perform general duties
1. Ensures to conduct regular patrol around the APRP compound in the morning prior staff arrival, during the day, and upon staff departure, focusing on achievement of the following results:
• Prevents entry to unauthorized person;
• Prevents unauthorized removal of APRP property and ensure that all APRP properties are being carried from the compound are checked for appropriate documentation;
• Protects and guards APRP premises and equipments;
• Patrols the compound and maintain continual surveillance against fire, water leakage and any other action which could damage APRP premises or injure personnel;
• Conducts internal patrols for the purpose of intercepting unauthorized persons attempting to have gained entry to the premises, reporting all security, fire and safety violations to the Security Warden/ Radio Base;
• Maintains alertness for any potential or actual breaches of security and any disturbances or unusual activity; and report these immediately;
• Ensures that all the offices are secured locked after the working hours as well as the main gates;
• Keeps all security lights on during the night;
• Patrols the compound during the night shift to secure the compound and property, checks that all office machines, air conditioners, lights, etc. are turned off after working hours;


2. Ensures to Search the vehicles in accordance with Minimum Operating Security Standard Procedures, focusing on achievement of the following results:
• Controls, identify and clear pedestrian and vehicular traffic entering and exiting the premises maintain log books and records as required;
• Prevents non-authorized vehicles to be parked in front of the entrance of the APRP compound;


3. Ensures to Screen and register all packages and letters in accordance with Minimum Operating Security Standard guidelines, focusing on achievement of the following results:
• Screens all personnel, packages, and vehicles entering the premises and reports immediately, any unusual packages, bags or objects left outside the office or within the compound;
• Receives the mail/pouch, parcels for the office only when the proper address and names are indicated;


4. Ensures to Perform general duties, focusing on achievement of the following results:
• Issues building passes, when appropriate and accompanies non-APRP visitors within compound grounds;
• Identify and retain custody of weapons entering the premises with the authority to either confiscate or return said weapons upon owner’s exit from the premises;
• Provides information and direction to all persons associated with the organization;
• Keeps radio contacts with APRP Radio Base and reporting all security, fire and safety accidents, if occurs, during the night;
• Maintains updated directives and security personnel lists;
• Supervise and train other security staff;
• Performs other related duties as required.

Job Requirement:

Education:
Secondary education

Experience: Minimum 1 to 2 years experience, preferably in national or international organization. Experience and training with police force or in the military police or other relevant military experience is an asset.
Knowledge of HF and VHF would be an asset
Knowledge of First Aid Kit will be an advantage.

Language Requirements: Fluent in Dari/Pashto is required.
Knowledge of other local languages will be an advantage
