Job Summary:

Summary of Position Responsibilities:
The senior academic advisor will support and lead work programs to enable ACSI to position itself to make an effective contribution to maintaining the quality of services provided by ACSI, particularly within the changing environment of training delivery and professional regulation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Primary Activities of Position:

• Plan an extensive and complex academic program of training which will support ACSI’s long term strategic direction.
• In collaboration with Director General ACSI to develop, plan and deliver the program of work with a substantial degree of autonomy. Proactively review the success of the relevant strategy / programs and seek managerial support as necessary.
• Interpret overall ACSI’s policy and strategy in order to contribute to future ACSI strategic direction and ANDS.
• Provides expert and/or specialized academic counseling to the ACSI national and sub-national Training affairs departments in developing curriculum, training materials, and trainees’ selection.
• Provide advises to the national and sub-national training departments on the trainees performances and advise for taking appropriate actions if necessary; assist ACSI’s in resolving trainees problems regarding curricular requirements and other related issues.
• Develops academic plans and monitors the ongoing academic activities at the ACSI.
• Provides information to the national and sub-national training departments regarding the training programs, training policies and procedures.
• Assesses the trainees' stage of development (academic, career, and personal) and promotes Trainees growth by determining suitable developmental tasks.
• Advises the ACSI’s DG in all academic areas.
• Monitors academic progress of trainees; analyzes progress reports from parties involved in training, determines eligibility and satisfactory progress toward training program.
• Identifies current and potential needs or problem areas and refers trainees to appropriate ACSI departments for assistance; communicates findings to coaches and administrators.
• Supervises maintaining trainees’ files and records, documents.
• Develops and Interprets ACSI’s training policies and procedures, participates in preparation of orientations and presents academic information to new trainees.
• Checks the accuracy of curriculum changes, training materials, training evaluation forms etc.
• Gathers necessary information regarding the trainees, training materials, training evaluation etc, prepares various reports as requested.
• Supervises extramural activities, such as internships; may assist with accreditation efforts as needed.
• Performs related duties as assigned or required by the ACSI DG.

Job Requirement:

Qualifications for Position:

• This position requires Master degree or PhD in Education management, Developmental Studies, or a related field. The incumbent must have recognized academic profile.
• The incumbent must have 20 years of relevant experience in Education management or academic areas. Work experience with GoA is a plus.
• Substantial experience working in a research capacity in the training field (or similar field if transferable knowledge can be demonstrated).
• Significant experience and success in a variety of roles and settings.
• Significant experience of working with senior managers and leaders and making a contribution to strategic direction and policy formation.
• Experience of managing projects to deadlines and excellent organizational and administrative skills.
• Experience of working with a high degree of autonomy.
• Experience of working with senior and professional people in the civil service development fields.
• The incumbent must have knowledge of English, Dari and Pashto languages.
• Ability to use spreadsheets, presentation graphics, word processing, and Ms Excell.
• Ability to analyze complex concepts and present them clearly.
• Able to think clearly, articulate ideas and make them accessible to others both orally and in written communication.
• High level ability to judge the relative importance of findings and to draw out the key points and implications.
• Ability to work with high degree of autonomy, along with an ability to work constructively and supportively in a team and to lead a team where required.
