Job Summary

Work with Senior Agricultural Policy Advisor to work with MAIL to improve the competitiveness of the Afghani agricultural production and increase access to new markets by creating a refined and responsive policy environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities will include providing technical policy advice to create conditions conducive to competitive export of high-value agriculture products and working with MAIL to establish SPS systems, trade certifications system, and procedures to support exports. Work closely with other US Government programs in this area (in particular, U.S. Department of Agriculture).

Job Requirements

At least 10 years of professional experience in agricultural policy reform and/or SPS certification;
Technical expertise in development and implementation of SPS systems and development and implementation of grades and standards;
Experience working in Afghanistan or region preferred;
Demonstrated experience working with senior level host-country counterparts;
Degree in relevant field required;
Prior experience working on USAID or other donor funded programs preferred;
Strong English language skills required.
