Job Summary

A Senior Cost Estimator is an experienced employee or contract worker who determines the estimated costs of various projects, develops and maintains unit cost databases and supports the Technical Leads in the development of accurate cost budgeting on Work Orders.

Duties & Responsibilities

 Create accurate predictions as to the cost of building projects and other complex projects.
 Create and maintain an accurate Cost Estimating database of unit prices for vertical structures and horizontal-type (roads, bridges, etc.) building projects.
 Conduct reviews of Cost Estimates prepared by other members of the engineering team, as well as other USAID implementing partners, for accuracy.
 Mentor and train members of engineering team in cost estimating methodology and implementation.
 Perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes and procedures on cost estimates developed by engineering team members, as well as other USAID implementing partners.
 Ability to work well with others in order to gather accurate input and information for project cost estimates.
 Ability to work under tight time constraints to meet the Client’s requirements.
 Reports to and supervised by the Technical Service Manager (TSM).

Job Requirements

 Bachelor’s Degree in related engineering field.
 A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience providing Cost Estimating services for multi-disciplined engineering, construction or construction management companies.
 Excellent working knowledge for preparing cost estimates of all facets and phases of engineering design, including: Site/Civil, Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing.
 Excellent working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Project software.
 Strong calculating and database skills.
 Fluent in English, Dari and Pashto (written, read and spoken)
 Based in the Kabul Office, but may be asked to make short term field visits to project sites throughout the country.
