The American University of Afghanistan (AUAF) is a private, non-profit university offering an American-style liberal arts education. We opened our doors in 2005 and currently offer 4 undergraduate academic majors and a new MBA program. Job Summary:

The Senior Finance Officer reports to the Finance Manager and Senior Finance Manager and is responsible for preparing financial statements, maintaining cash controls, purchasing, maintaining accounts payable and managing office operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Senior Finance Officer’s duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Monthly closing and reconciliation of all accounts;

Keep accurate financial records for all daily transactions;

Supervise accounts payable;

Supervise accounts receivable;

Follow-up with customers for receivable clearance;

Manage to adjust entries for monthly and yearly closing;

Reconcile GP financial data monthly and annually;

Prepare financial reports to senior management;

Oversee cash & bank statements reconciliation;

Oversee regional financial data reconciliation;

Participate in financial audits;

Track bank deposits and payments;

Review and implement financial policies;

Review AUAF reports for Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Economy;

Review taxation reports for Ministry of Finance; and

Any other task as assigned by supervisor.

The position requires the incumbent to reside in Afghanistan

ACCA or ACCA part qualified/Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field from a recognized university

At least five years of experience in related field is required (Experience from Big Four firm is preferred)

Microsoft GP knowledge is an advantage

Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints

Good communication and team-working skills

Self-motivated and flexible

Good leadership skills

Must understand and speak both local languages and have sound English skills

Ability to think strategically whilst maintaining a significant operational workload in a complex environment

A track record of performance and career advancement

Willingness to work overtime and on weekends if job demands require
