Job Summary

The Senior Monitoring Specialist for AMELA will be based in Kabul, Afghanistan full-time during the five-year performance period. He/she will be responsible for monitoring technical support services including third-party monitoring and verification and data quality validation.

Duties & Responsibilities

● Design and execute program monitoring technical support services
● Lead, manage, and mentor monitoring teams
● Assist in the recruitment of qualified local monitoring specialists
● Report to and collaborate with the AMELA Chief of Party regarding monitoring activities
● Work in concert with the AMELA Senior Evaluation Specialist, Senior Learning, Collaborating, and Adapting
Specialist, and Deputy Chief of Party

Job Requirements

● At least 10 years of experience in international development program monitoring
● Prior experience as a Senior Monitoring Specialist, Monitoring Team Leader, or similar role
● Knowledge of and applied experience with USAID policy related to monitoring
● Adept at integrating gender, disadvantaged, and marginalized group dimensions into monitoring activities
● Previous experience working on donor-funded programs in Afghanistan or other conflict environments
● Completion of monitoring in USAID program areas including agriculture, democracy and governance,
economic growth, education, health, infrastructure, and humanitarian assistance
● Experience leading monitoring training and presentations for diverse groups and individuals
● Graduate degree in international development, social science, economics, statistics, or a related field
● Fluency in English
