Work closely with Senior Value Chain Linkages Advisor to support MAIL in developing capacity to develop value chain linkages â€“ input suppliers to producers, producers to primary processors/aggregators, primary processors/ aggregators to secondary processors, secondary processors to logistics providers, and logistics providers to markets.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Specific areas of responsibility will include assessing agribusiness and commodity competitiveness and growth potential, and oversee activities that identify, introduce, and promote competitive high value crops, as well as identifying weak links in the agricultural value chain. Specialist will support MAIL in developing agricultural extension capacity specifically to support high-value agricultural production to meet market requirements, as well as assisting MAIL in developing capacity to support Afghan high-value agriculture-oriented cooperatives and associations.
At least 10 years of professional experience in strengthening agricultural value chains (in Afghanistan);
Demonstrated experience working with senior level host-country counterparts;
Degree in relevant field required;
Prior experience working on USAID or other donor funded programs preferred.
Strong English language skills required.
