IDS Afghanistan is currently seeking well-qualified Mechanical Engineer (Hydraulic) for its FIAT Project in Central, Eastern and South-East regions.
Base for the positions will be Kabul with frequent travels to provinces
FIAT Project is a 3-5 years third party monitoring and evaluation project funded by US Department of States (INL & PRM) which aims to monitor, assess and verify all completed/on-going projects of implementing partners (Both governmental and non-governmental organizations).
The incumbent should be proficient in Smartphone-based data collection which uses English language.
The duties and responsibilities of the Site Mechanical Engineer (Hydraulic) include:
Ensure projects are completed/ under completion as per engineering standard norms
Ensure project contractors comply with the pre-approved engineering plans, layouts and drawings;
Travel and conduct site visits to offices and premises of project implementing partners (both governmental and non-governmental organizations) in order to inspect, observe and verify ongoing project activities;
Collect quantitative and qualitative data and monitor the progress of the project activities and quality of implementation against project work plans using appropriate monitoring measures;
Examine and verify the stated activity input, output and impact indicators to assess the progress of projects’ activities;
Prepare, consolidate and submit post-mission reports in the form of narrative reports, and other weekly, monthly and project completion reports to his/her supervisor.
University graduate: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field is required, Master’s Degree will be preferred. Demonstrated skills and 3-5 years work experience in relevant field
Strong experience in facilitation of WWTP/WTP of plants and facilities
Knowledge of working with international contractors in Afghanistan
Strong language skills in Pashto/Dari and English.
Strong ability of writing reports
Strong analytical skills in relevant field of work
Should have good knowledge of provinces of Afghanistan, and can travel to provinces on frequent basis.
Excellent computer skills
Excellent communications skill
