Project/Proposal Summary:
The Assistance for Afghanistan’s Anti-Corruption Authority Project is a three-year, USAID-funded anticipated program to provide assistance to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in its effort to build a strong, effective institution to lead, monitor and report on efforts to combat corruption in Afghanistan. This project will primarily work with the Afghanistan High Office of Oversight (HOO).
Position Summary:
MSI is seeking an expert in legal reform and legislative drafting to ensure compliance with the UN Convention Against Corruption and serve as the resident technical advisor on law reform.
• Provide expert advice to HOO counterparts on legal requirements to comply with UN and other anticorruption conventions;
• Conduct research to assess gaps or deficiencies in the current legal framework as it relates to anticorruption provisions;
• Support drafting of laws and provide technical input to reform laws to bring them in line with UNCAC.
• Expert knowledge on the UN Conventions Against Corruption;
• Experience reviewing a country’s existing legislation to identify gaps and deficiencies;
• Experience in drafting legislation and working with executive and legislative committees to develop and adopt new laws;
• Prior experience in Afghanistan, or a similar environment, strongly preferred. Local candidates are encouraged to apply.
