Job Summary:

The technical manager is a versatile position that requires sufficient managerial skills as well as sufficient technical skills. A technical manager should be able to perform all necessary tasks related to company systems including troubleshooting any technical issues. They must oversee the development and implementation of any system through all steps of the process. They must make sure their team is fully trained and able to perform their jobs. The technical manager is the point person for any issues that arise within the team. They are responsible for making key decisions for technical issues related to the company after considering everything from cost to quality of hardware or software.

Skills Description:

Duties & Responsibilities:

Maintain and Upgrade Broadcast Studio

·        Direct responsibility for the technical administration, maintenance and repair of all broadcast systems and equipment

·        24/7 Maintenance of WFIT's audio chain (studio-transmitter-tower/antenna) and internet streams

·        Implement software and equipment upgrades as needed to follow latest technology trends

·        Ensure continuous/uninterrupted operation of all studios and audio equipment

·        

Maintain and Upgrade Broadcast Transmitters

 

·        Responsible for maintaining equipment at transmission site: Roberts Hall

·        Maximize uptime and manage remote control access, monitoring, and transmission

·        Monitor industry trends


Advising/Instruction

 

·        Provide hands-on training for volunteers and staff on broadcast software and hardware

·        Develop and maintain process documentation

Qualifications:

·        Required Qualifications

·        BS or related education

·        Three to Five years of related experience

·        After hours and weekend work as required

·        

Preferred Qualifications

 

·        Experience maintaining FM broadcast transmitters

·        Experience with digital audio editing

·        Experience in training and instructing

·        Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve

·        Proven communication and organizational skills, both written and oral
