Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of and reporting to the GIS Specialist, the GIS Assistant will work closely with RAMP UP South GIS Specialist, RAMP UP South and Kandahar Municipality Mayor Office and will be a member of the GIS technical team.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Developing GIS products based on data provided;
• Producing map products for distribution;
• Facilitate the input and draft of existing field data from external and internal surveyor’s data, field notes and engineering plans using ArcGIS/ERDAS Imagine softwares.
• Facilitate the municipality’s ability to convert various digital/hard copies drafting data to the Geographical Information System Arc GIS software and respond to mapping and information requests regarding data entry, maintenance and cleaning;
• Perform any other tasks as directed by the RAMP UP South GIS Specialist or Component 3 Team Leader.

Job Requirements

• Experience of data collection, entry and maintenance;
• Good understanding of database management (particularly MS Access) is an advantage;
• Practical experience in using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is desirable;
• Experience in the following areas will be an advantage: Internet technology, Windows OS, network administration, input/output technology (printers, plotters, scanners, etc);
• University Degree or similar qualifications desirable.
• Thee to five years working experience.
• Good written and spoken English;
• Good interpersonal skills.
