Job Summary:

With direction from the Afghanistan Country Team Leader, the Director of Capacity Building and Civic Outreach, and other Counterpart Afghanistan staff, the Training and Capacity Building Officer will oversee and organize programmatic and training activities, including coordinating and being responsible for the capacity building activities at all Welfare Association for the Development of Afghanistan (WADAN) and at citizen’s media centers throughout Afghanistan.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide technical knowledge about media, public outreach and community engagement approaches, tools and methodologies to both HQ and Afghanistan program staff, WADAN, and relevant citizen Multimedia Production Centers (MMPCs);
• Organize and lead roundtables and workshops trainings on various topics related to production of new media, organizational capacity, and civic outreach;
• Monitor and mentor WADAN and MMPCs staff and their efforts to involve citizens in producing and distributing multimedia content;
• Create mechanisms to promote best practices and success stories across MMPCs;
• Support logistical and administrative efforts of the AMDEP project, especially those related to the WADAN and MMPCs.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Requirement:

• At least eight years of experience working with media organizations or NGOs, including at least three years with an international organization.
• Work experience with development programs working in media, civil society, civic outreach, and capacity building activities.
• University degree preferably in International Development, Political Science, Public Policy, Journalism or a similar field.
• Technical expertise in the areas of media content development, civic outreach, trainings, capacity building, and community engagement
• Demonstrated proficiency in English language, both written and spoken, in addition to two main local languages, Dari and Pashto
• Advanced computer skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to take initiative and think creatively.
• Be able to supervise other team members.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Excellent cross-cultural skills, ability to work in a diverse, multi-cultural environment, with respect, professionalism and gender sensitivity.
