Job Summary:

QED is seeking a monitoring and evaluation (M and E) training specialist to provide technical direction and supervision to support the RAMP Up-South Kandahar M and E teams. S/he will be responsible for the training of field teams in implementing surveys and focus groups, data collection and validation, and statistical research methods. The candidate will also be responsible for authoring or contributing to reports for USAID. The Training Specialist will report to the M and E director and will work closely with the survey specialist and deputy director.

This assignment will be conducted in the Kandahar province. Travel to other project facilities may be required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Train 12 field teams annually in survey and focus group implementation, data collection and validation, and statistical research methods
• Coordinate with survey specialist on data collection procedures and with M and E director on evaluation framework
• Review current project data to design customized training exercises based on the real data.
• Develop and administer training needs assessment and post training evaluation.
• Write a report summarizing findings from training needs assessment, key strengths, and challenges of local staff vis-à-vis capacity to implement data collection procedures
• Develop stand-alone guidebook to assist staff in their ability to independently implement data collection procedures
• Work with M and E director to ensure that training fit into Ramp Up-South M and E framework
• Collaborate with other M and E specialists, M and E director and deputy director on reporting. Author and contribute to M and E reports and other deliverables, making recommendations for future M and E efforts as needed.

Job Requirement:

• Minimum 3 years experience in social science research, M and E, statistics, survey and focus group implementation, and/or international development.
• 3 years experience with managing and training field staff in M and E and survey methodologies. Experience in adult learning instructional methodologies.
• Experience with univariate and multivariate statistical analysis methods.
• Secondary degree required, university degree preferred. Equivalent years of experience acceptable in lieu of university degree.
• Experience with USAID-funded projects.
• Excellent English languages skills, both verbal and written.
• Basic computer skills, including experience with word processing and spreadsheet programs.
