Job Summary:

The Interpreter/Translator will provide oral and written translation and interpreting services to Ministry of Mines and Petroleum and its website.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Develop an action plan based on job description.
2. Provide accurate and timely translation of Ministry’s official documents from English to Dari/Pashto and vice versa as required;
3. Ensure accuracy and relevancy of translated documents through proof reading methodology;
4. File the translated documents in both hard and soft copies;
5. Provide oral translation and interpreting services in to the target languages in a variety of setting, as necessary at meetings and other official events of the ministry
6. Assist in the development and compilation of reports and other information documents as required;
7. Attend meetings as required and prepare the draft minutes of the meeting
8. Translation of daily emails/documents if necessary and verbal translation is also required to share it with senior officials;
9. Provide professional translation English to Dari/Pashto or Dari/Pashto to English of handbook, training materials, program update, and any other document deemed necessary by supervisor.
10. Maintain confidentiality and security of official documents at all times
11. Perform other duties as will be required by the Department.

Job Requirement:


To have minimum academic Qualification of Bachelor’s degree in literature any of English, Dari or Pashto languages;

Minimum 4years of experience in same position at any government, non-government organizations (NGOs) or donor agencies in a similar position;

Strong command of spoken and written English as well as knowledge of the main local languages of Afghanistan;

Strong familiarity and understanding of Microsoft Office Packages;

Ability to work with the team

Fluent in written and spoken Dari/Pashto and English languages.
