Project/Proposal Summary:
FAIR is a major USAID program to help improve the structure and capacity of the Afghanistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). The project consists of organizational development, institutional reform, improving human resource management, foreign policy analysis, and operational and information technology in support of the ministry and its links to embassies and consulates abroad.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:
• Translation of documents from English into Dari/Pashto and vice versa, including memos, reports, letters, forms, policies, procedures, manuals, laws, newsletters, treaties, and promotional materials;
• Interpretation at high level meetings of the Ministry, workshops, conferences, and seminars;
• Draft official correspondence in English/Dari/Pashto for the Ministry;
• Assist Ministry officials and project staff as required;
• Attend and translate at meetings and conferences, training programs, seminars, hearings, and sessions;
• Review and correct translated documents;
• Carry out any other assignments as needed.

Job Requirement:

Qualifications:
• Degree in field of English /Dari Literature or in any other closely related field;
• Excellent English-to-Dari/Pashto and Dari/Pashto-to English translation skills;
• 3-5 years of work as an interpreter/translator or similar experience;
• Fluent in English, Dari, Pashto;
• Excellent writing skills in English/Dari/Pashto;
• Good knowledge of computer programs including MS Office;
• Previous experience working with government ministries or international organizations or agencies is preferred.
