About Capital Region Independent Development Authority (CRIDA):
The capital region of Afghanistan comprises the Kabul, Wardak, Logar, Kapisa and Parwan Provinces. The total area of the capital region is more than 7735 km2. In order to make safe urban environment and tackle the problems caused by ever increasing population growth in the capital of Afghanistan considering the concentrated economic activities and services provision, Dehsabz City Development Authority (DCDA) has been promoted to Capital Region Independent Development Authority (CRIDA) (As per the Presidential Decree No. 44 dated 23rd June 2016 based on Cabinet Resolution no 3 dated 30 April 2016 of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan). CRIDA is an Independent Budgetary Unit and Governmental profitable entity within the organizational structure of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Capital Region Independent Development Authority (CRIDA), not only develop Kabul New City project but also pave the ways for the development of Capital Region with broader visions which are briefly narrated as follows: 1. Transforming the Capital Region by turning it into a mega city that is clean, environmentally friendly, cultured with booming industries and commerce, sports and tourism and ultimately a metropolitan city that is self-reliant and sustainable, a city that has infrastructure and facilities of high standards with healthy physical environment. 2. Building a diverse community that is free of ethnic, linguistic, racial and religious prejudices. 3. Promoting urban culture and enhancing the standard of life through development of the Capital Region. 4. Development of cities (through decentralization for balanced development) within the Capital Region by protecting the originality, historical value and organic linkages with the existing Kabul city to transform the entire capital zone into a symbol of national unity.
Job Summary:
CRIDA is currently looking for a Urban Planning Specialist to play active role in Upgrading & Renovation Program Division (URP) and contribute in managing and preparation of multidisciplinary tasks for achieving the strategic goals of CRIDA on objective basis.

The Urban Planning Specialist will report directly to the Director of URP Division.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Specific and key accountabilities and responsibilities outlined as below:
Manage and organize the works and update a detail annual work plan (weekly, monthly and yearly).
Develop and introduce manuals, tools, guide lines, standards and processes for development of Capital Region
Working on a framework for upgrading and renovation division of CRIDA
Conduct and review research works in related fields
Develop urban planning, urban forms and land use models
Working, managing and coordinating the upgrading team activities
Understanding of overall land development concepts and urbanization trends
Mange and supervise the policies of readjustment, upgrading and renovation planning
Review master plan, structure plan and detail developmental plan of entire urban and rural areas in capital region
Develop integrated land use distribution system and provide acceptable range for neighborhoods, zones, districts etc.
Transform areas to different land uses such as (residential, commercial, mixed, industrial etc.)
Preparation of weekly technical meetings and drafts amendments and recommendations in all planning related issues
Respond to stakeholders’ questions through written and oral communications in regarding of upgrading and renovation issues
Preparation of comprehensive technical reports.
Performs other relevant duties as assigned
Job Requirement:
Master’s degree in urban Planning and urban design or Architecture, higher degree will be highly preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in the field of urban planning and design.
Previous or related work with city or township development designing or planning
Experience in skillful usage of computer and office software packages Such as MS Office, Auto CAD, GIS, Photoshop and other related programs.
Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and Afghan national Languages
Ability to work under critical situations and time limited conditions
Good skills in organization, co-ordination and the transfer of knowledge are essential
The person must be able to work independently and without constant supervision
Good communication skills and a commitment to team work are essential to ensure cohesion with other members of the CRIDA technical team.
Ability to develop the land use plans and calculations
Ability to conduct economic and environmental justification of the land development
Ability to arrange the landscape components such as plantation, retaining walls, waterways, sidewalks and other components.
Must have strong analytical skills of urban planning theories
