Job Summary

VSAT Manager shall be responsible for Planning, implementation and maintenance of ACG Satellite Hub as well as remote VSAT stations all over Afghanistan. Provide technical support to field teams for troubleshooting and maintaining these VSAT stations.

Duties & Responsibilities

Managing the installation, assembling, alignment and commissioning of the VSAT hub and remote stations; including software and hardware configuration and upgrades.

Identify prospective clients, mapping their requirements and designing of proposals.

Conducting techno-commercial presentations for new business development and providing technical support to sales development team.

Prepare Link Budget, capacity lease and frequency plans.

Identify new products/solutions, in addition to project management.

Responsible for managing the overall operations services of the VSAT stations.

Providing technical information and guidance to VSAT operations teams.

Monitoring and controlling, Real Time Trouble Shooting for RF terminals, modems, multiplexes and software problems associated to VSAT networks operation, installation and maintenance of VSAT terminals.

Satellite C-Band, Ku-Band, Ka-Band RF Terminals, HPA (3 Watt to 100 Watt), SSPA, RF converter, Up/Down converters, transceiver, LNA, LNB and LNC all hardware testing and repairing on modules level as well as components level.

Components level and modules level repairing of all VSAT equipment (radio frequency transceivers, digital modems and network operation digital equipment).

Performs KPI quality management test.

Conduct testing of communication equipment and systems.

Track and record satellite trends.

Analyze, design, model and simulate communications systems, subsystems, and algorithms for satellite communications networks.

Model and simulate wide and local area networks, point-to-point systems, secure systems, signal coding and modulation schema, digital radio/communications technology and network architecture design.

Analyze and provide information on space segment lease cost, bandwidth requirements, and frequency management.

Maintain standards for satellite database access control and auditing.

Planning, estimating and tracking budget control for VSAT systems.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications / Computer Science / Electrical / Electronic engineering with a minimum of 7 years proven professional experience with VSAT communication systems.

Advanced knowledge of Telecommunication and mobile network fundamentals, standards, specifications and generations.

Strong leadership, interpersonal and communications skills

Ability to build, lead, manage, and motivate teams and projects in a dynamic environment.

Highly organized, capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously and meeting deadlines under the highly pressured circumstances.

A depth of knowledge and experience controlling variables such as time, scope, and risk management.

Extensive experience on Incident and problem management.

Make technical and process recommendations.

Self-disciplined, self-motivated and the ability to organize and prioritize time effectively.

Ability to calculate budgets, business-cases, capacity planning etc.

Able to travel and work throughout the country, including remote locations
