Duties & Responsibilities

Justification(s) for Creation of this Position:
The Web Designer develops the layout and the overall look of a website and create graphic and media essentials using Photoshop, flash and other media applications. Reflect on the aesthetic of the site by considering color and typography.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Ensure that a website is user-friendly and interactive. Working with clients and co-workers.
Focus is on designing a site that promotes Company business, branding and logo.
Responsible for programming in HTML and CSS. Work with JavaScript. , including a working knowledge of web browsers, multiple OS platforms and site maintenance.
Creates and further develop existing group websites according to specification, along with the development of new group websites. He/she will be a PHP programmer with experience of working with Content Management System driven websites.
Design and develop the corporate website ensuring strong functionality and optimization.
Design and develop relational database systems and their web interfaces.
Responsible for integrating the SQL Server database with the company website.
Responsible for the design of company web pages, including graphics, animation and functionality.
Develop web page infrastructure and application related to pages with more advanced graphics and features Skills/Attributes needed for this role are: experience in SQL Server and MySQL in depth ASP, JSP, JavaScript, CSS and XHTML, experience of using Adobe CS4 Web Edition, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash including Action script.
Manage the design process: generate high level and detailed mock-ups of User Interaction, working with other designers and developers to ensure the design is accurately implemented.
Design and develop interior page layouts including content formatting, CSS creation, HTML files converted from Photoshop templates and custom graphics.
Plan and conduct cross-browser usability testing against W3C and feed the information back into the design and development process.
Manage existing websites as well as the development and project management of new websites from beginning to completion.
Own the product User Interaction experience across multiple channels that include web, mobile and desktop.
Liaising closely with a trainees or client at the design stage and finding the answers to questions about why the site is needed, who the target audience will be, who the leading competitors are, etc.
Producing a design that will be attractive to the target user, has a logical navigation system and has all the features required;
Writing web pages in a combination of codes, such as HTML and XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, Action script, ColdFusion, .Net, Flash, or using code-generating programs, such as Dreamweaver and Visual Studio;
Deciding on how images and other material will be digitally optimized and presented for the web;
Ensuring that material on the web site is accessible to all groups including those with disabilities;
testing the site for functionality in different browsers and at different resolutions;
Fixing errors.
Able to work with PHP
Any other duties as required
Knowledge of html, dhtml, css, JavaScript, PHP, ASP / ASP.net web page creation, and web site maintenance
Responsible to create design templates, including graphic design, site navigation, and layout of contents for the ACSI websites.

Deliverables and Reporting Requirements:
• The Web Designer will report directly to ICT Specialist.
• Delivery of work products corresponding to the above tasks

Job Requirements

At least 5 years of relevant and progressive experience in website management,and written communication
Excellent writing and editing skills in Pashto, Dari and English.
Prior professional experience in an international and/or civil society working environment is considered an advantage.
2-years degree in Graphic Design, Web Design, Multimedia Design or a related field.
Web Designers must be proactive, able to communicate effectively and work on multiple deadlines.
