Job Summary:

The Business Development Services (BDS) Coordinator will assist the BDS Specialist to implement the business development services component of ASMED activities. ASMED defines BDS firms as companies that assist other companies to conduct their business more efficiently and more profitably. They can be business consulting or business training firms, accounting and legal firms, and even transportation firms. The BDS Coordinator will assist the BDS Specialist to work with these kinds of business service providers to develop and deliver services to SMEs and assist the BDS firms in developing new markets. The BDS Coordinator will coordinate with the Training and Capacity Building Officer to organize training programs as per the component work-plan.
Support to Business Development Service Providers (BDS firms) is one of the main components of the ASMED project. Business Development Service Providers are firms that provide critical support services, enabling a broad group of firms to attain higher value, larger volume or higher quality.

BDS firms may assist in the creation of new SMEs. BDS firms also help existing SMEs to manage their businesses better, to introduce new products or services, to expand their businesses, to improve productivity and profitability and to address key bottlenecks in value chains. Examples of BDS firms include (Business consulting firms, Business training firms, Marketing and advertising firms, Market research firms, Legal firms, Commercial mediation/arbitration services, Accounting firms, Audit or financial management firms, Insurance firms, Packaging firms that package the products of many other firms, Transportation and consolidation firms that serve primarily business clients, including firms offering export logistics, Logistics firms that serve primarily business clients, Storage and warehouse facilities, Firms that provide IT, communication, or publication services to other firms (internet cafes and photocopy shops that serve primarily business clients, but not PCOs), Testing and Certification labs

Duties & Responsibilities:

•Organize BDS training programs and seminars as per the work-plan.
•Provide on-going quality control for BDS training programs funded by ASMED.
•Assist BDS Specialist in developing BDS training materials.
•Assist BDS firms in developing new markets through marketing, promotion and education.
•Provide support to Afghan Consulting Companies Association.
•Assist BDS Specialist to promote effective communication and information exchange among BDS firms.
•Organize various public relations events, press-conferences, presentations to promote business development component activities.
•Maintain the ASMED BDS contact database.
•Assist with reporting requirements and monitoring/evaluation tasks.
•Any additional tasks necessary to successfully implement the BDS Component.
•Provide weekly and monthly reports to Outreach and Communications Dept.
•Determine cash flow requirements and submit on time each required period.
•Check all documenting supporting invoices and secure confirmation of acceptable quality of training/service provided, prior to requesting Senior BDS approval for payment. Enter relevant data into the BDS Service Provide Performance Measurement Database.
•Work in conjunction with any BDS members singly or in groups to address projects as they arise.
•Determine with BDS staff the gathering of information to properly reply to data calls on time with accurate information.

Job Requirement:

•Considerable graduate work in Business development fields, such as economics, development studies, business administration.
•1 to 3 years relevant professional experience in the area of trade, financial services and business consulting.
•Excellent writing skills, as well as strong analytical, conceptual, research and interpersonal skills
•Fluency in Dari, Pashto and English
•Computer and internet literate
•Participate effectively in a team-based, information sharing environment, collaborating and cooperating with others
